The 3 peg block is the perfect toy to follow the palmar block. Once your child has had some successes with removing an object and putting it back. they are ready for the skill of size discrimination! This block is simple: 3 cylinders of varying sizes, from largest diameter to smallest. Each cylinder is made of a different wood type to further emphasize the different diameters for the child.
- Remove pegs from their base and describe the size using big, smaller, and smallest to help develop language around size.
- Slowly model putting the peg back in the base.
- As a self-correcting item, give your child ample space and time to practice removing the items from their bases and returning them to their bases.
Children's play should be monitored at all times.
