The Sort & Count Trees are a great introduction to sorting and counting that can be used in imaginative play or as a stacker.
Consider removing all the tree tops and sort them into different piles by their color.
When you describe the different colors, use descriptive language like dark forest green, light green, bright yellow etc.
Practice one to one counting
Place your finger one of the dark green tree tops
When your finger makes contact say "one"
Place your finger on the next tree top
When your finger makes contact say "two"
Consider demonstrating how to stack the trees on rods by color and then demonstrate counting each rod using one to one counting.
Consider demonstrating how to make a pattern using the tree tops on different rods.
Childrens play should be monitored at all times.
